Twin / Single

A twin mattress also known as single is the smallest mattress size other than a crib-size mattress. The dimensions of a twin size are approximately 39 inches wide by 75 inches long. Twin mattresses are a good option for children or even a guest room.

Twin / Single Extra Long

A twin XL mattress is the same width as a regular twin (around 39 inches) but has an extra 5 inches length-wise (totaling 80 inches). Twin XL mattresses are around the same length as a king or queen mattress. A twin XL is a good choice for rooms with smaller space such as college dorms. Since it has extra inches in the length it works well for taller individuals.

Double / Full

A full- size mattress also called a double mattress, dimensions are 53 inches wide, which is just 15 inches wider than a twin size. Like twins full sized mattress are the same in length which may be too short for taller individuals. A full size isn’t too ideal for a couple sharing a bed, it only leaves each partner only 27 inches of personal space which is about the width of a crib. A full size is an ideal size for children as well because they won’t outgrow it as quickly as a twin.

Queen

Queen size mattress dimensions are 60 inches wide by approximately 80 inches long – 7 inches wider and 5 inches longer than a full-size mattress. These added inches can make all the difference in comfort, especially for couples. Single sleepers may also find they prefer plenty of space when sleeping, and the increased size of the queen over a full-size mattress makes for the ideal fit.

King

The king-size mattress dimensions are 76 inches wide by approximately 80 inches long. A king- size mattress is very spacious for a couple. Two twin XL beds pushed together are about the size of a king. This is the best choice for couples who want maximum personal sleeping space. California King

A California king mattress is approximately 72 inches wide by 84 inches long – 4 inches narrower and 4 inches longer than a regular king. For a large bedroom, or an especially long bedroom, the California king can help fill the space.
